How to Attach a Garmin Varia (or any Garmin Mount) to a Saddlebag
Just ordered one for my recumbent bike. Hopefully means I’ll get out on it more :)
I hot 12 minutes into this video. but I can't bare to watch any further. In a word, editing.
Thought I was going mad. Thank you. Sorted the problem.
Anyone wish there was one video where they show you search for an address and go?!! ANYWHERE?
So I got my Edge 840 two days ago. And a question came to my mind. Are we able to start/stop the ride (activity) on the touch-screen?
Hilarious delivery format, but doesn't detract from the facts of the product, a perfect combination .
I have a 530 and it is very good. My only complaint is the shut down screen. When I finish a ride I want a big display saying 530 battery is 5% Varia light is 10% Sadly Garmin does not display this info, so you hang your bike up. The next time you go for a ride the 530 then tells you... Mate you should have changed. You only have 5% battery. I do not want this info when I set off, I want this info when I am turning the unit off. Small issue but it does grind my gears.
I havent option send to device
I luv my Varia! I often ride by myself, so I love the fact that it lets me know when cars are coming in advance, which gives me the opportunity to look in my review mirror that’s on my sunglasses and move over. Best accessory ever!
THANK YOU! I could not figure out how to attach it to my bag with the flap under my seat. I used 😂zip ties and now I can cut them off and do it this way. Genius!!!!!!
Good to hear an honset opinion. I commute, cycling across Tower Bridge 5 days a week so it woudn't feel so special to me (more like I'm just about to turn left onto C4 and cycle home) and yes, it is far too narrow more a mass finish. As far as I know, there were too many nimby complaints about closed roads in the affluent areas of Surrey so that's the main reason for it moving out to Essex. It's a shame they don't get to showcase more of London now. Almost like they are in a hurry to get you out along anonymous dual carriageways. I've never completed a 100miler, just a few 60mile ish ones. An 80 mile event in the hilly chilterns I did a few years ago in 30º+ heat half killed me, so I'm thinking I'll perhaps look into the 60mile event route next year.
Are the new training features of the 840 worth to upgrade?
Can I use strava segments while following a route on the 840?
my 830 is vergy buggy software wise, would like to get rid of it.
Started watching this vid for the climb pro screen w/map in the title screen. Turned out it’s not 840 and it’s misleading. Lost interest in the bla bla after that - probably as inaccurate as the title screen. Go figure!
Can't dispute the blah blah, but I can definitely confirm that's my 840 on the thumbnail. Took the footage on the climb up to Avoriaz from Montriand, last July (the day the tour finished in Morzine)
I have two questions, you answered one: 1) No extra data fields, although larger font. 2) Is there a difference in screen readability in direct sunlight?
Fingeridge, nice
This is a brilliant video, informative and entertaining! Purchased one straight after
At last an honest and sensible review ... the logistics and shite are never discussed on BBC State News .... and never will be ... well done mate!
I like my 830 but its not without its hiccups. The screen goes bananas in the rain, the climb pro can go out of sync, and the live strava segments seem to work only when they want to, but I will stick with it for now. I do like the idea of some extra physical buttons though!
I have never heard such a perverted product review. Please keep it up (innuendo intended)
Hello, thank you for the review and your time. I have a little concern. I normally use a Garmin instinct 2 on my wrist, with Garmin Connect. I'm planning to use the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt V2 with my bike. Is it possible to use my rides inside the Garmin Connect APP ?? Has anyone experienced any issues? Thank you very much
I experienced it during my 1st time usage of Bolt V2. I didn’t have issues - only 2 duplicate rides uploaded to my Strava so you just got to delete 1 of the same activity in Strava when that happens 😊
So interesting to watch this 6 years later. Just like wider tires, I dont understand how this took so long... Current Di2 105 supports up to 36 cassettes. My new Bike came with 35/48 front to 10-36 rear. Never going back to unnecessary huge gears
Alas my under saddle bag would be the one that doesn't have this tab ..... .sheesh!!!
I have a very disappointing experience with my Edge 840. Navigation is hard to see and follow, the colors make no sense especially on the sun with sunglasses. Ad hock navigation is not reliable. I was 4kms in a straight line to the beginning of a bike race in Granada. It calculated a 25kms route to get there! It’s just unreliable. Had to use google maps to get there. Also the integration with the phone it’s crazy slow. Finish a route, takes more then 45m to upload to Garmin connect. Also to download routes takes forever. Stop creating new features and work on the core functions.
I have discovered Yorkshire Bike Clarkson (an improvement in all regards) 🎉 hopefully more ameniable to irish men.
Great video, though it was the Pelvic Nudge that got you subbed... LOLLL
great video thank you im looking in to buying one myself, i have one question tho, do you need a ant+ dongle? cheers!
No. I use Bluetooth to connect the KICKR to my ipad, which is where I run Zwift. I just checked and I was also able to connect it to my computer via Bluetooth. You'd only need an ANT+ dongle if you plan to connect it directly to an older computer without Bluetooth. Even then I *think* you can connect via the Zwift companion app on your phone (though I understand this can have dropouts).
Thanks good to know, the v6 kickr also has wifi, I am overthinking which one to choose the core or the kickr. But now maybe best to save some money on the core.
have an 830 and am trying to split the climbpro screen to show the map as well as the climb information. Is that possible?
I get the impression they should stick to including most of London or at least covering one side to the next. That guy that got hit by a deer was unfortunate too
Hi! I have an issue with this stuff, I am curious that you have the same experience or can suggest something. So, you can use the gardia in two ways: 1. connected to a computer as a smart light and radar as well, 2. standalone mode without light connection, but still connected as radar. In the first case when a car is detected, it changes the light mode warning strobe only for one or two seconds, then it goes into the normal mode (however the car is still visible on the computer's screen). In the second case, warning light pattern is okay until the detected car passes you, but after some time (about around half an hour) the light switches off itself. I have not found any solution and have not found anybody, who has got the same experience. Maybe, because gardia is my girlfriend's light and I can see behind her how it operates. Thank you for your answer. Some additional information: the gardia and the computer (garmin edge 830) has got the latest firmware.
I have been reading about this light, i believe it has an auto-shutoff mode after 30 minutes of inactivity but is supposed to start back up/on after you resume your ride
insert a 15 or 17mm Nut when removing the drive side, saw that in a Parkside video. Keeps the removal tool in place.
12:52 my kind of humour 😂. Subscribed!
OMFG your jokes are so bad and cringe worthy
Underrated review, every joke was 10/10
3.3 w/KG for this amount of training is really poor man change sport
As a German I feel flattered.
Faster! Faster!
Why do we need to keep looking at your ear?
Ride London is a waste of time - being forced to walk up the only climbs… where to stay…lottery style entry (theft)…
I have had one for over a year. Very disappointed. I'm 69 and can not hear it, so unless I'm looking at my edge I don't have a clue what's behind. The Fenix 6 vibration is so weak I don't notice it either.
I think you’d enjoy IndieVelo!
Have you tried out IndieVelo yet?
What is this game? You have to clear all the moving peni to go green?
Hi. Great video. I've been using my element bolt 2 for a couple of years, after the recent upgrade when I load a route I only get the navigation turn by turn instructions rather than any of the other data fields. I'm sure it's user error but I haven't been able to find any solution to help me resolve this. Are you able to help me?
Hi Edward, thanks for the comment. I've not used the BOLT in a little while so I haven't seen the firmware changes on a ride. I'll try to use it on an upcoming ride. In the meantime probably better to contact Wahoo support directly. They're usually quite good - a few years ago my device stopped working and they just swapped it for a new one.
@@Sportivecyclist thanks so much for taking time to reply. I will take your suggestion and contact Wahoo direct
One of the most fun reviews of anything I’ve seen in ages 😂. All while actually doing an excellent job of actually assessing and describing the capabilities
Thanks Tim
Ok cheers. I got the 840 - I need reading glasses and ride only with sunnies so I thought the 1040 would be better for its bigger size, but it looks just too big for me. 3xcited to get my new edge.
Ha ha. A decent review for once. Well done lad. But f*** I came for advice to buy the 1040 and now I need to look a the Karoo… do you have a comparison film?!?
I did my first RideLondon yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly and very sociable at the stops, most of the riders behaved well although nearly came off when a phone dropped off a bike in front of me and she slammed on the brakes and swerved across me. Echo your comments about marshals. Aren’t they supposed to run ahead of an incident and wave their yellow flags as in motor racing? Many were just waving them to show support! I finished in 6:28 which I was very happy with, but I’m probably twice your age! It gives me a target to beat next year.
Handy hint - theres a large underground car park under Hyde park. So stay out of Central London and drive in early to park the car safely underground. A couple of minutes from there to the start area. When you are finished, back to Hyde Park and your car - easy to get out onto the M40, M4 or North to the A1. If you like cars, you can drool at all the seriously expensive cars kept underground by the denizens of Mayfair, plus the Dorchester hotel.
I pre booked the ParkBee in Kendal street less than 2 miles from Victoria Memorial. Secure, barrier operated from your phone. £18 all day on a Sunday. Can’t fault it.
Your channel is worth watching for the comedy value alone😂
